STOP THE BLEED®

Minutes count! Someone who is severely bleeding can bleed to death in as little as 5 minutes. That’s why bleeding control—keeping the blood inside the body—is the purpose of STOP THE BLEED® training.

LifeSafety365 is certified to teach The American College of Surgeons STOP THE BLEED® program.  We are also designated by the DoD as an Educational Licensee.  The program has trained over 1.5 million worldwide on how to stop bleeding in a severely injured person.  Through our STOP THE BLEED® course, you’ll gain the ability to recognize life-threatening bleeding and intervene effectively. The person next to a bleeding victim may be the one who’s most likely to save him or her.

Most STOP THE BLEED® courses last no more than 90 minutes. A formal presentation is followed by hands-on practice of applying direct pressure, packing a wound, and using a tourniquet to stop bleeding.  Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion.

The lecture portion of the STOP THE BLEED® course is now available virtually. You can register to take the online portion at the time and date that's best for you then later schedule the skills portion of the STOP THE BLEED® course which is an in-person requirement to complete the course.

If you’re from the state of IL or Chicagoland area, did your school and public institution receive their Control Bleed kits?  Ready Illinois reported in September of 2019 the Illinois Terrorism Task Force was distributing 7,000 STOP THE BLEED® kits to schools throughout the state of Illinois.  (see press @ ready.illinos.gov)

If the School Safety Working Group thought, it was necessary to make such a recommendation; wouldn’t you think it just as important to ensure childcare providers have the knowledge and preparedness to deploy the kits?

Why It Matters

Uncontrolled bleeding is a major cause of preventative deaths. Approximately 40% of trauma-related deaths worldwide are due to bleeding or its consequences, establishing hemorrhage as the most common cause of preventable death in trauma.*

STOP THE BLEED® Interactive Course

The STOP THE BLEED® is a BLENDED program that consists of (1) an interactive online course that is free to all students and can be taken multiple times to learn and refresh knowledge of the STOP THE BLEED® techniques.   (2) And an in-person instructor-led skills portion requires the students to deploy the techniques covered in the online course.

The STOP THE BLEED® Interactive Course guides individuals through the three methods of bleeding control using video demonstrations, interactive learning, and spontaneous quizzes. The interactive course is also a virtual alternative to the in-person lecture presentation. While this online course fulfills the lecture portion, it does not allow participants to receive a certificate of completion until they complete the hands-on skills portion of the course.

At the conclusion of the course, students will receive an automatic email with their final quiz results. Participants must present this document the skills-only portion of the course.   Participants must complete both the lecture/interactive course AND the skills component of the STOP THE BLEED® course to be considered COMPLETE and to receive a certificate of completion.  Students can register to take the Interactive Course at any time that's most convenient for them.  The course is great for a refresher you can revisit at any time.

AED Acquisition & Inspections

If a person drops of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), an AED can be used until emergency medical services arrive.  With SCA, time is a crucial factor.  For every minute without getting defibrillation or high-quality CPR, the chances for survival decrease 7 to 10%.  We'll assist with acquiring a unit that fits your environment best.
